According to recent studies, sales reps who regularly experience high-stress levels “tend to be less involved in their jobs, less committed to the organization, and to experience lower levels of work and life satisfaction.”
As a rep sales can be a double edged sword. The financial upside is hard to compete with. However, on the other hand the pressure to show up everyday and perform at your best can become daunting without the right tools. Take time to break up your tasks and goals into smaller pieces so you can celebrate the small wins along the way.
Things outside of our control can be extremely stressful. Think about controlling the ‘controllables’. Take time to list out all of the things within your roll that you have control over. Draw a circle around this things and on the outside of the circle list all the things that you don’t have control over. This can help your brain differentiate the two visually. Allow yourself to trust that everything will be okay as long as you control what’s within the circle.
Having clear goals is vital to individual performance. Not having clear goals is like a ship without a sail. It looses its purpose and becomes tossed around in a vast ocean. Setting both short term and long term goals will help you add purpose to your work as well relieve the stress as opposed to working with no clear vision or outcome in mind.
Self-doubt can be a silent killer. The way we talk to our selves to the story we give ourselves are both factors into our belief system. When we formulate a story that sets ourself up for success we begin to not ignore the doubt that is in the back of our mind but challenge those thoughts and that old belief system.
